I want a greater Web presence and a good search engine optimization (SEO) seems to be the way to get there.
So how do I get started? In order to move forward in setting up a successful SEO, it is important to understand the three fundamental aspects that an SEO consists of.
The first is choosing the right key phrases or key phrase optimization.
Key phrases are the words or phrases that a search engine user will type in the search box, of a search engine to begin a query.
This is something that we all do on a daily basis through Google, Bing, Safari and Firefox when we are looking for information on topics, products, people and so on.
The most effective key phrases are those that will describe the purpose and content of your Web site clearly, thus allowing your site to show up on the first results page, of a search query.
It is important to remember that the better and more accurate you are in positioning key phrases on your page will determine just how good your position is on the query results page of the search query.
One other feature that must be taken into consideration is making sure that you create, from your site, links to quality Web pages, sites and vice versa. The links should be to sites and pages that are known for getting a wealth of viewers logging onto them.
Be forewarned that the use of wrong key phrases will definitely disrupt the accuracy, efficiency and overall purpose of your search engine optimization strategy, which is why you will need to invest a lot of time in researching and developing the right key phrases that will ensure the success of your SEO strategy.
The next aspect of the SEO is Web page optimization.
The first area to understand is that keywords are really no longer the first line of offense in setting up a successful SEO and this is why I have only been using the term key phrases.
Because of the vast acceptance and use of the SEO solution, the one-word keyword method has created tremendous competition, which makes it almost impossible to attain a top position when using just keywords.
So, from this point on, we will be talking about and using key phrases instead. We’re going to start with the homepage of your site and review it very carefully, writing down all the phrases that best outline and define your site.
You should look for two and three phrases to develop your list of possible key phrases, which should be as long as possible, giving you more than enough to have as you begin the process of screening and determining the demand and supply for the key phrases you have selected.
This will permit you to pick and choose the best ones, those with excellent demand potential and not enough supply.
Now it is time to begin optimizing your web page for the phrases. This is done by situating your key phrases in strategic locations on your pages.
We will continue to outline the process of developing a great SEO next week. So if you haven’t already, get started. What are you waiting for?
