If people cant find these companies on the first page of search results, then potential customers are unlikely to visit their websites.

Thats where you come in. A great SEO freelancer will seamlessly integrate a couple of search terms or keywords into the pages of a website so search engines can easily find it.

The key here is seamless. A websites text still must flow naturally despite adding keywords. You shouldnt use too many keywords (no more than a couple per page) and you shouldnt write an entire paragraph just to incorporate a keyword.

How can I find freelance SEO writing jobs?

The best place to start is freelance job websites like Elance.com and IFreelance.com. You can market yourself on these websites as a freelance SEO writer and bid on dozens of SEO writing jobs. These sites receive new SEO job postings almost daily, so youll always find freelance SEO work to bid on.

If you have experience in SEO freelancing, you can command top dollar. You should establish your own website to market your freelance services. If you can build your own website that attracts prospective clients, then its a good indicator you can help others find their websites too!

How do I respond to an ad for an SEO writer effectively?

Put yourself in the shoes of the person whos looking for an SEO writer. What does he or she want to know?

Heres the answer: anyone looking for an SEO freelance writer wants to know three things: 1) you have a proven track record; 2) you have excellent grammar; and 3) you are creative enough to not make their keywords stick out like a sore thumb. If you can show those things, you can create an enticing bid and convince clients to hire you.

Another key is providing a competitive quote. Freelance job websites make this tricky because you will always find someone who will bid less than you. The best advice is to make your bid equal your skillset and experience. If you dont have much experience, then use the opportunity to under-bid slightly to get the experience you need. Gradually your resume will grow and youll be able to ask for more money.

I am a real estate agent with a large client base but very few find me via my website. I would like to update my website so it attracts more people and has more visibility on the Internet. I would prefer someone who knows how to use SEO words effectively.

This ad gives you the idea the realtor doesnt know much about SEO. In your response youll want to assure him that you can handle SEO in his industry. A good tactic is to suggest certain keywords or keyword phrases he could use to rank his website higher. Youll also want to assure him that youll optimize his content not just for search engines, but also for his readers. Remember, good SEO writing is not just about keywords its also about creative and effective marketing in general.

If youre a regular reader of my blog and websites, then you know that Im an avid article marketer. I started using this method back in 2002 to promote my very first ebook. Its worked so well for me over the years that Ive never given it up. I may fall out of favor with over laziness and/or time crunches, but I always come back to it.

Two New SEO Writing Clients in the Last 3 Weeks from Article Marketing

In the last three weeks, Ive landed two new clients from article marketing. Both are steady, ongoing gigs that take me less than an hour per day to complete and addnicely to my bottom line each month. Thisis why I love SEO writing its lucrative and steady if you do a good job and adhere to deadlines.Its clients like these two thatallow me tolive a quite freeing existence, ie, be in Jamaica right now and be off to New York in about 10 days.

One of these clientsfound me on IdeaMarketers.com, an article marketing site I submit to irregularly. Another didnt know exactly where, but said that hed read some of my articles on SEO while he was doing some research on SEO writing on the web.

In fact, I rank #1 for the term SEO writing. If you type it in, what will pop up is an article by me on EzineArticles.com entitled What is SEO Article Writing? SEO Copywriting Explained. And, thats out of over 14 million results!

How did I get to the top for this very competitive keyword phrase? Its quite simple . . . article marketing.

$100-$200 Per Day Online in Affiliate & Blogging Income Using Article Marketing

I also make money from blogging and affiliate marketing (recently $100-$200 per day) using article marketing. You can read about that at the link above. Here, Ill give a quick rundown of how I use article marketing these days to land (lucrative,ongoing)SEO writing jobs.

How I Use Article Marketing to Get SEO Writing Jobs

1. Write: I write and submit at least one article per week to top-rated directories (ie, EzineArticles.com, Amazines.com, IdeaMarketers.com, etc.). I try to do more, but almost never go a week without submitting at least one.

2. Write with SEO in Mind: This helps to drive more traffic to your site. I never write an article without optimizing it for a certain keyword phrase.If you dont do this, IMO, its a waste of time.

3. Mass Distribute: To get the most out of my article marketing efforts, I also signed up with ContentCrooner.com (previously ArticleMarketer.com). This way my articles are continually distributed to on- and offline publishers who sign up to receive free content.

4. Press Releases: Occasionally, Ill reformulate an article into a press release and submit it to free PR sites like PRLog.com. These types of sites get lots of search engine juice. Thats why I submit there.

5. Rewrite into Foundational Content: Lastly, Ill write a longer, foundational article for my site that Ill usually link to in the resource box of the article I distribute via article directories.

To explain a bit further, I think every site should have foundational and what my SEO writing firm calls easy, breezy content. Easy, breezy content is the content you distribute to article directories. Foundational content is longer, more in-depth content that should be found only on your site.

My easy, breezy content will cover the same subject matter, but asks the reader to click through to the longer, more in-depth foundational content found only on my site to get more detail.

And thats it.

Two Things You Must Absolutely Know about Article Marketing

i) It Takes Time to Work: Youre not going to get immediate sales with article marketing. This is why I advise new SEO writers (and other freelance writers) to market directly to clients first. Then, after you start making money, devote some time to marketing that will grease the pipes, so to speak for future work.

This is what article marketing does.

I havent submitted an article on SEO writing to IdeaMarketers.com in three months maybe longer. So the client who found me there was reading content that Id written months, or maybe even a couple of years ago.

And thats the beauty of article marketing. It like having a salesperson on the web selling for you 365/24/7.

ii) It Has to be Done Consistently to Work: You cant post a few articles and wait for the SEO writing jobs to start rolling in. Article marketing just doesnt work like that (in fact, most forms of marketing dont work like that). OK, pay per click (PPC) maybe to a certain degree.

BUT if youwrite and submit articles consistently, clients will all of a sudden come out of the blue. But, it really wont be out of the blue because theyll be running into your contentall over the web. And, when you have a presence like that, it makes it hard for them NOT to contact you when they need the types of services you offer. This has been my experience with SEO copywriting.
